Teaching Online in an Ethic of Hospitality: Lessons from a Pandemic

چکیده

With the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, teaching online became a norm for universities Canada. Besides challenges topics that may be impossible to taught online, major issue mandatory physical distancing brought is relationality between teachers and students. In order investigate how educators were making sense such changes, semi-structured interviews conducted with 12 education professors across light Derrida’s Ruitenberg’s ethic hospitality, this paper explores abrupt shift unveiled nature hospitable education, especially context. The implications instruction professors’ relationality, however, are also instrumental illuminating complexities ambiguities teacher’s responsibility even what could considered “normal circumstances” face-to-face instruction.
